Grant funding
through the Carl Moyer Incentive Program is available to construction companies interested in upgrading their equipment with newer, low-emission engines or technologies.

BENEFITS OF CLEANER TECHNOLOGY

  • Help your fleet meet construction mitigation requirements (DETAILS BELOW)
  • Lower maintenance costs
  • Less equipment down time
  • More efficient use of fuel
  • Improve worker health
  • Improve regional air quality

WHY TARGET CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT?

Emissions from construction equipment contribute significantly to the Sacramento region's air quality problem, especially since the construction and smog seasons occur simultaneously. Nitrogen oxides (NOx), a primary ingredient of ground-level ozone known as smog, and particulate matter (PM) are reduced when construction engines are cleaner.

Mitigation of construction emissions is essential for air quality improvement. Mitigation information includes:

  • Standard construction mitigation language applies to larger construction projects.
  • Mitigation requires a construction fleet to reduce NOx by 20% and PM by 45% and keep visible emissions below 40% opacity.
