SUBJECT: Notice of Preparation Of Draft Environmental Impact Report For The Sacramento Area Regional 8-Hour Ozone Attainment Demonstration And Reasonable Further Progress Plan

The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD), in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is the Lead Agency and has prepared a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project identified above. The project area includes the counties of Sacramento, Yolo and parts of Solano, Sutter, Placer and El Dorado.

The NOP and associated Initial Study (IS) includes a project description and a discussion of the potential adverse environmental impacts that could be generated from the proposed project. The purpose of this NOP/IS is to solicit information on the scope of the environmental analysis for the proposed project and notify the public that the SMAQMD will prepare a Draft EIR to further assess potential adverse environmental impacts that may result from implementing the proposed project.

The SMAQMD will hold a scoping meeting to discuss the proposed project and review the environmental issues to be discussed in the EIR on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the SMAQMD, located at 777 12th Street, 3rd Floor, Sacramento, California 95814 at 9 a.m.
