Background
The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District is a leader in helping schools reduce air pollution in the Greater Sacramento Area by using zero-emission school buses and technology in our communities. The replacement of high-polluting diesel buses with new clean school buses greatly reduces children’s exposure to transportation related air pollution. It also helps school districts with cost savings on fuel, regular maintenance and repairs. The Sac Metro Air District is committed to regional projects and partnerships to create clean air and a low-carbon future for everyone.

2021 Community Air Quality Grant Solicitation
Status: Closed
The solicitation will run from March 29, 2021 to May 28, 2021. The current solicitation has up to $18 million in incentive funds available to replace combustion engine school buses with cleaner school buses. School Districts in Sacramento County and the Yolo-Solano AQMD are eligible to apply for school bus funding up to the maximum allowed in the Carl Moyer Program guidelines. Projects may be evaluated under the Community Air Protection Incentives guidelines. Districts may also apply for infrastructure funding.
Please note that HVIP funding cannot be used in combination with Carl Moyer Program and Community Air Protection Incentives. Most districts may not qualify for maximum funding and may need substantial cash match to participate. For more information about eligibility and match requirements, please contact staff.
