The law directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and local air districts to work with residents, community-based organizations, businesses and local agencies to take measures to protect communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution. South Sacramento-Florin was selected by the state in 2018 as an AB 617 community with a high air pollution burden.
