Public Record Act Requests

​The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (District) is committed to transparency and providing public access to government records in accordance with the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.).

Members of the public may request copies of identifiable District records that are not otherwise exempt from disclosure under applicable law.

Before submitting a request, please review the information below to help ensure your request can be processed as efficiently as possible. 


Commonly Requested Information

The District frequently receives requests related to: 

  • Permitted facilities 

  • Permit applications and permitting activities 

  • Inspection activities 

  • Enforcement and compliance activities

  • Notices of Violation (NOVs)

  • Public complaints 

  • Asbestos demolition and renovation projects 

  • Board and administrative records 
  • Other District programs and activities 


Search Public Information Online

Many commonly requested records and information are available through the District's Public Data Access Portal. Before submitting a Public Records Request, we encourage users to search the portal first.

The Public Data Access Portal provides searchable access to:

  • Permitted Facilities 
  • Public Complaints 
  • Resolved Violations 
  • Asbestos Projects 
  • Published District Documents

Before You Submit a Request 

Providing detailed information helps District staff locate information more efficiently and may reduce the need for follow-up clarification. 

When available, please include: ​

  • Facility name
  • Facility ID number or Organization ID 
  • Business name 
  • Street address 
  • Permit number 
  • Complaint number 
  • Violation number 
  • Asbestos project number 
  • Relevant date range 
  • Type of record being requested 

The more specific your request, the easier it will be for District staff to identify responsive records. 


Submit a Request 

If the information you are seeking is not available through the Public Data Access Portal or other online resources, the quickest way to submit a request for District records is through our online Public Records Request Form.​

If you need assistance identifying records, have questions about submitting a request, or prefer to submit a request directly to the Public Records Act Request Administrator, please call (279) 207-1122 and ask to speak with the Public Records Act Request Administrator or e-mail. Please note that requests submitted through the online Public Records Request Form generally allow for faster processing than requests submitted through other methods.​
